Heart Disease

Heart disease is a broad term that includes coronary artery disease, arrhythmia or abnormalities of the heart rhythm, atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries, heart infections, and congenital heart defects.

It is considered the leading cause of death in the world, with risk factors that include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, obesity, and physical inactivity. While heart disease is largely preventable, family history, ethnicity, sex, and age can also contribute.
