About Liver Disease

Liver disease, also known as hepatic disease, is a broad term that includes hepatitis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), fatty liver disease, and cirrhosis. Liver disease often develops undetected over years, without obvious symptoms. According to the American Liver Foundation, liver inflammation is one of the early signs of any liver disease. If the inflammation continues over time, it can start to hurt one's liver permanently and progress to liver failure. Obesity is the leading cause of liver disease in the US.
