About Obesity

Obesity is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, and according to the CDC, about 35% of American adults and 17% of American children and teenagers fall into this category. People who are obese are at higher risk of health problems such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Obesity is most commonly caused by poor diet, inactive lifestyle, genetics, or certain medical conditions.
