Ashley Wallace

Dawes Fretzin Clinical Research Group, LLC

dawes fretzin

Ashley Wallace is the Director of Clinical Research at Dawes Fretzin Clinical Research Group, LLC, in Indianapolis, Indiana. This organization focuses on psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Ashley has been in clinical research for eight years total, and with this particular research group for six, working as a Coordinator and recently taking on the role of Director. She became interested in clinical research after experiencing clinical trials from a patient point of view, and is now focused on finding cures, not only for her disease but for the many conditions that her site studies daily.

We asked Ashley to share her experience working with Antidote:

How was your experience working with Antidote?

Antidote offers an very easy, user-friendly, and easy to navigate recruitment system. Of the many central advertising systems we use, it has led to one of the larger numbers of referrals. The referrals tended to be well pre-screened, and communication was frequent and easy. There is always someone available when an issue arises.

Did Antidote help with any trial recruitment challenges you had?

Trial recruitment was very slow for this particular [lupus] study. It was difficult to find patients once our internal database was exhausted. Antidote allowed our site to reach a large number of patients in a short amount of time.

How was the quality of our referrals, especially in comparison to other companies doing patient recruitment?

The quality of the referrals was very good. Patients were well pre-screened. Antidote led to a larger number of potential patients than many other patient recruitment companies.

Ashley’s site plans to continue to add new studies, expanding on their experience in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, lupus, warts, psoriatic arthritis, CTCL, and molluscum contagiosum. They’ll also be expanding and opening a large, brand-new facility in November 2018. Learn more at http://dawesfretzinresearch.net/.

Elsa Gebregiorgis is a Clinical Research Coordinator at California Neuroscience Research, a Sherman Oaks, CA research site founded in 2002 that specializes in Alzheimer’s Disease, depression, migraine, and anxiety disorders. Elsa has been in research since 2009, after landing her first research role at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She loves the patients she works with, and playing a role in helping them find alternative medications if current treatments have failed them.

We asked Elsa to share her experience working with Antidote:

How was your experience working with Antidote?

Antidote has been the best referral site we’ve used since I’ve been with CNR. The patients have been reliable and very eager to qualify for this study. These Alzheimer’s disease studies are very long and we long for quality patients that we feel are going to complete the study. We have had luck randomizing patients using Antidote.

How was the quality of our referrals, especially in comparison to other companies doing patient recruitment?

The quality of the patients is what I like most about working with Antidote. They’re my number one choice. We’ve used other referral sites and we were getting Spanish-speaking patients (we only screen English speaking patients), patients from out of state, and of course those who were only interested for compensation. We were wasting so much time trying to find quality patients who actually qualified.

How was Antidote’s quality of service and communications?

It was great. We are a small site, so I’ve been recruiting for this trial on my own so there were times when I couldn’t reach out to the patients within 24 to 48 hour, and Antidote’s team reached out to our referrals or sent me emails to remind me.

What are your thoughts on Antidote’s site portal/platform?

I have recommended Antidote for our other studies and one new Alzheimer’s disease study is currently using it. I hope to work with Antidote in the future for all our current indications.

Elsa’s site is starting new studies soon. They’re working to expand with more migraine trials, and would like to do more in the ADHD space. Learn more at http://cnrmg.com/.

David Tidwell is the Outpatient Study Coordinator at Remington-Davis Clinical Research in Columbus, Ohio. Remington-Davis was founded in 1992, and has since completed more than 450 clinical trials, largely in respiratory conditions. The site aims to link the community of today with the healthcare of tomorrow. David has been with the organization for a year and a half, and enjoys giving patients as many healthcare options to choose from as possible.

We asked David to share his experience working with Antidote:

How was your experience working with Antidote?

For a current asthma study, Antidote was provided for use by our site from the sponsor. Antidote advertises for and screens potential asthma patients, before sending qualifying patients to our site.

What did you like most about working with Antidote?

Remington-Davis is very appreciative of the quality of patient referrals. All inclusion and exclusion factors for the study are examined by Antidote. The medical history form provided to our site helps to identify any remaining questions before contact is made, and speeds up the scheduling process once we call the patient. As of today, four out of the five patient randomized into this study have been Antidote referrals.

Did Antidote help with any trial recruitment challenges you had?

This study is heavily focused on the standard of care medication a patient is using before study enrollment, which can make recruitment difficult. The medical history form shows that Antidote’s staff are reviewing all medications used by the patient for their asthma.

How was the quality of our referrals, especially in comparison to other companies doing patient recruitment?

Our site appreciates that Antidote sends only those patients who truly qualify and have been thoroughly reviewed. As a Study Coordinator, I feel that my time is valued by Antidote — I don’t waste time on a high volume of patients who don’t qualify, but can work closely with patients that can benefit from the study.

How was our quality of Antidote’s service and communications?

Antidote does a wonderful job of keeping in touch, and are always easy to reach when we need clarification or assistance. All the staff I have interacted with have been kind and supportive, which is welcome in the high-stress world of healthcare.

What are your thoughts on our site portal/platform?

Antidote’s portal is easy to use and clear on patient data. The patient tracker makes sure that no one slips through the cracks and keeps the whole team up to date.

David’s site plans to continue adding new trials soon. From asthma and COPD medications to C. diff and flu vaccines, they’ll continue to offer their community access to cutting edge treatments in development. For more information, visit https://www.remdavis.com/
