Osteoarthritis (OA) is a condition associated with the gradual denigration of cartilage in the joints — and while it can occur anywhere in the body, the knee is one of the most common areas impacted. For diagnosed individuals, treatment options consist of temporary relief via pain medications and steroid injections, but patients generally must pursue partial or total knee replacement as symptoms progress.
For these reasons it is vital that research studies take place to pioneer better treatments. With data from over 14,000 patients with a knee OA diagnosis, we have analyzed patients’ demographics in order to inform smart study design and patient outreach for successful enrollment.
