Scrip Awards: Antidote’s Work Connecting Patients to Research Studies is Recognized

If you’ve been diagnosed with an illness, you probably know the accompanying feeling of uncertainty all too well. How will this impact your life? What treatment will you select? Will there be side effects? Will it work?

And while doctors should absolutely play a role in guiding your treatment decisions, a lot has changed since the days of depending solely on your doctor for learning about treatment options. Especially when it comes to clinical trials.

The fact of the matter is that there are more than 45,000 trials throughout the world that are looking for participants on clinicaltrials.gov. A quick search for diabetes, for example, yields more than 1,600 results. It can be hard to keep up - even for the best doctors. Which means that it is now more critical than ever for patients to play a role in their own treatment and care.

This is why we’ve developed Antidote Match, the first trial matching engine that allows you to find research studies that are right for you, just by answering a few questions about your health online. It’s much simpler than traditional ways to search for trials, and it puts the patient right in the driver’s seat.

We think this is one reason why Match was recently named as a finalist for an important industry award called the Scrip Awards, in the category of “Best Technological Development in Clinical Trials - Patient-Focused.” We couldn’t be more proud to be shortlisted in a category that sums up what we’re all about: keeping the focus on the patient.

So where can you find Match? It’s on more than 200 websites (and counting) these days - including some of the biggest advocacy organizations out there, like MDA, Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, Lung Cancer Alliance, and JDRF. We partner with these organizations to ensure that Antidote Match is reaching patients where they are already looking for information about their illness.

And again, that spirit of collaboration has been recognized by the Scrip Awards. We’ve been nominated a finalist for “Community Partnership of the Year” for our work with JDRF. Through this partnership, more than 25,000 people have searched for trials on the Antidote-powered JDRF clinical trials search, “Clinical Trials Connection.” We created this video with JDRF to capture the spirit of diabetes research, and drive interest in taking part:

We’ll let you know if we’re the big winners at the Scrip Awards on November 29! And in the meantime, if you’d like to search for a clinical trial today, feel free to get started below:
